Texas A&M University – Commerce is located in Commerce, Texas on South Neal Street. The campus of the college is fairly large and takes up several blocks. It can be reached off highway 178, which is also Culver Street. Both the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum and the TAMU Children’s Learning Center are located directly across from the campus. There is a Holiday Inn Express and a Lone Star Eatery, Grill and Bar located near the campus as well.
Texas A&M offers a bachelor in arts and a bachelor in science degree in paralegal studies. The program is designed to help prepare an individual to work directly in support of lawyers. These programs have been approved by the American Bar Association.
There are several courses within the paralegal program offered through the university that are required. Some of these include introduction to law, legal research, law office management, civil procedure, paralegal internship, and torts and personal injury law. In addition to these required courses students must also complete at least 5 elective courses from the required class list. Of the five elective courses, four of them must be from the paralegal studies elective courses.
The paralegal Bachelor in Arts or Bachelor in Science degree will take approximately four years for a student to complete. Students may choose to obtain a degree within another field of study and choose paralegal studies as a secondary major.
