South Plains College is located in Levelland, Texas on College Avenue.
The Covenant Hospital, Levelland is located just a few blocks away from the school.
Also near the school is the Levelland Country Club.
About a block away on the corner of College and Magnolia Streets there is a Dairy Queen and a Burger King fast food restaurant.
Paralegal Programs Offered
South Plains College offers both a Paralegal Studies Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies.
Program Schedule and Requirements
The Associate of Applied Science degree in paralegal studies is a two-year program that is designed to prepare students with knowledge and expertise in the legal system.
The goal of the program is to train the student to be able to assist an attorney with all of their legal services.
Students who complete this program will be eligible to take the Certified Paralegal examination offered through the National Association of Legal Assistants.
The first semester of the associate degree program includes a computer course, writing, math, and two legal courses for a total of 16 credit hours.
The second semester of the program consists of an English composition course, speech, and three legal courses for a total of 18 credit hours.
The third semester consists of all legal courses and the social sciences elective course for a total of 18 credit hours.
The final semester consists of 18 credit hours and includes a paralegal practicum.
The certificate program consists of two semesters of 12 credit hours each.
The courses included in the certificate program are all related to the legal field.
There are no required general education courses for the certificate program.
Students completing the certificate program are not eligible to sit for the Certified Paralegal examination unless they have prior work experience or education.
