Course Breakdown

The University of Alaska Fairbanks does not give a required course sequence for the Paralegal Studies program.

Students must complete the General Education requirements and the Paralegal Studies courses to earn the degree.

The school requires students to complete nine credit hours in communications, three computation requirement credits, three human relations requirement credits, up to 15 credit hours of general electives, and at least 30 major specialty credit hours to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.

The Paralegal Studies courses that students must complete include Introduction to Justice, Introduction to Paralegal Studies, Ethics for Paralegals, Practical Paralegal Skills, and Civil Procedure.

Students must also complete Family Law, Legal Technology, U.S. Constitution and Society for Paralegals, Legal Research and Writing for Paralegals, and Advanced Legal Writing.

Students choose four additional paralegal courses from options that include Torts, Contracts/Real Property, Employment Law, Probate Law, Criminal Law for Paralegals, and Business Law.

The Paralegal Studies program also requires students to complete an internship.
