The Southeastern Career Institute is now part of Kaplan College.
The campus of the college is located in Dallas, Texas on Ford Road.
The campus is located just off I-35 and I-635, making it very easy to access.
There is a lot of parking available in the area as well as public transportation services that serve the area.
The Farmers Branch Historical Park is located just a few blocks from the campus.
Programs Offered
Kaplan College offers both a certificate program and an Associate in Applied Science degree in paralegal studies.
The programs are both approved by the American Bar Association.
Program Schedule and Requirements
The certificate program offers classes that take place during the day Monday through Friday.
There is also a night program available, which requires fewer credit hours.
This is mainly because the daytime program requires an externship to be completed to complete the program.
The program stresses practical skills over theoretical knowledge.
The associate of applied science degree requires additional general education courses as well as the required courses for the paralegal studies degree.
Some of the courses a student can expect to take include legal research, contracts, civil litigation, criminal law, estate planning, wills, trusts, personal injury, and torts.
Communication techniques, critical thinking skills, and research skills, as well as a number of different externship opportunities, are also completed as part of the program.

If Kaplan can get an accreditation, it can be a stronger and better choice for those who are taking up a paralegal program. I know it will be a long shot but the ABA accreditation is also one of the considerations when job hunting.
They don’t have online classes but they offer a night program. Most working students prefer night classes for more flexibility. I also appreciate that they offer more practical skills over theoretical ones so that they can be ready for real-life experiences.
